What does a traditional HVAC system consist of?
There are four main components of an HVAC system. Ductwork refers to the system of ducts used to transport air throughout your home. The furnace, or heater, is the unit that generates heat for the home. Lastly, the AC system is made up of the evaporator coil and the condenser (box shaped unit located outside the home).
Will I be charged for a diagnostic of my system?
Because we conduct a thorough inspection of your full HVAC system to identify the root of the problem, we do charge a standard diagnostic fee. This fee is applied to any repair or replacement that we complete however. If you are experiencing any issues with your heating or cooling system, give us a call at (760)891-9871 or schedule an appointment.
What maintenance can I do myself?
One simple and important thing that all homeowners can do is to change their filters on a regular basis. Based on how often the system is used, we recommend changing the filters every 3 to 12 months. Homeowners can also clean the outside condenser unit when necessary.
How can I increase efficiency and the lifespan of my HVAC system?
One of the best ways to improve your system’s performance is to frequently clean or replace air filters. Other ways include purchasing a programmable thermostat, keeping curtains drawn or installing shades in rooms that are more exposed to sunlight, and not blocking airflow by closing vents in multiple rooms
How do you measure the size capacities of heating & cooling systems?
Heating and cooling systems are sized based on their tonnage. One ton is equal to 12,000 BTU/H. Residential systems range in size between 1 and 5 tons. Correctly sizing a system is extremely important, and rather than just using the square footage of the home, our team at Oasis is trained to conduct a heat load calculation that takes into consideration multiple factors to ensure the system we recommend is the perfect size for the home.
How long will my new HVAC installation take?
The answer varies depending on the full scope of work. For a changeout, or the switch to a new furnace or air conditioner, the project will be finished in as little as one day. For a new air conditioning addition or a full-system replacement that involves installing new ductwork, you’re looking at approximately a 3-day project.
How often do HVAC air filters need to be changed?
If the system is used frequently, it is recommended that air filters are changed every 3 months to ensure high efficiency and functionality. If you are using your system sparingly, you can change your filters every 6 to 12 months.
